Hone Your Writing Basics (Y3&4) – in this session children will develop their abilities in plotting, story-boarding narratives, character creation and the effective use of literary devices, and putting their skills to the test in response to a weekly writing prompt.

Master Your Creative Writing (Y4,5&6) – young writers get the chance to devote several weeks to developing their stories, learning to craft more complex settings, plots and characters. This term’s theme is STEAM – creative writing inspired by science, technology, engineering and maths!

SATURDAY
10:00-11:20
My First Story + SPaG Me Up! (Y1&2) – a writing club where emerging writers can get to grips with understanding what makes a story great from well-loved children’s books, and put this into practice when writing their own tales.

Editing – Write & Revise (Y4,5&6) – our editing course introduces children to editing skills such as proofreading for SPaG and analytical critique by looking at writing from children’s classics, which they apply to their own original tales.

11 Plus English Prep (Y5&6) – in our 11 Plus sessions an experienced educator will equip children with the skills they need to tackle the English section, from time management to the successful use of literary devices.

11:30-13:00
Hone Your Writing Basics + SPaG Me Up! (Y3&4) – an extended version of our after-school club into which we also add games and activities to boost the children’s confidence in using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar in story writing.
