Solar Buddies

Boolins Organic
Six weeks after my son was born he started getting eczema. Not just a little patch on his elbows and behind his knees but everywhere, and I mean everywhere. So much so that it prompted one of the doctors we saw to say they had never seen eczema so bad on someone so young.
It was a really tough time because it clearly was incredibly sore for my little boy, and as many of you know when it come to ones we love we will literally do anything we can think of to help. I spent hours pouring over the internet to find things to help. It felt like I’d read the entire internet!! Eventually I started reading about clothing and how much this impacts the skin.
Organic can make a difference as there are strict rules to how the cotton plant is grown (YES who knew cotton does actually come from a plant, not me at the time!) and then ultimately chemicals put into making the final fabric. It eventually became apparent that my son had a dairy and soya allergy and this will pushed me into taking action.
I guess this is the moment I first started thinking about Boolins Organic, I found boys clothing so uninspiring compared to girls so I set about making organic kids clothing and accessories that are funky, fun and definitely not beige! Not that there is anything wrong with beige but it just wasn’t for me.
I love to mix colours and fabrics to bring clothes alive. Hopefully they love wearing them as much as I love making them; which in turn makes them want to wear them again and again, just as clothes should be.

I make beautiful bespoke dreamcatchers, each one is custom made in any style, colour and size, with or without lights (lots of colour options available for lights too), the possibilities are endless!
I started my business almost 18 months ago, with the hope of being able to do something I enjoy on top of my part time job, within the first year my business had grown to such a size I quit my job to run my business full time. I get to spend more time with my kids and doing what I really want to do.
My dreamcatchers are a twist on the traditional, they are unique, and no two are ever the same, and are all handmade by myself.

Kent Life
Kent Life is a vibrant and fun destination with host of attractions on its 28 acre site which offer a great day out.
As a working farm Kent Life showcases and breeds traditional farm animals including sheep, pigs, horses, alpacas, rabbits, goats, ducks and chickens and the hands-on cuddle corner is always popular with visitors. Take time out to visit the Kent Owl Academy, home to 12 different species, along with lovely meerkats. Visit the Vintage Village and explore what life would have been like in Kent in Victorian Times, during WWII and more recently, the 1950s. A visit wouldn’t be complete without exploring the last working coal-fired Oast House and various gardens. There’s also plenty for children including play areas, fun farm rides, pottery studio and more.
Events and entertainment run all year, join in with some of the seasonal farm jobs such as bottle feeding lambs and goat kids, animal feeding or grooming sessions. Seasonal special events vary from the annual Hops ‘n’ Harvest Beer Festival, through to an Apple and Cider Fayre and costumed character events for children.
Finish your visit with a trip to Dotty’s Tea Room, which has great home-made cakes and a selection of hot and cold snacks and is decorated in a 1950’s vintage style, or sit in the shade under fruit trees in the garden. The Play Barn offers a selection of lighter snacks, and the Ice Cream Hut and Pizza Garden are available on selected days during peak season.
