This September sees my diddi dance franchise for Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire and Stafford reach its 3rd birthday, and to celebrate I will be running a fantastic Facebook competition for someone to win one of our totally awesome Birthday parties for their little one (worth up to £120) absolutely FREE!
My name is Svenja, and 3 years ago I took the decision to leave a career in teaching as I wanted to work for myself, but still being passionate about my subject of dance and wanting to work with children, diddi dance was the perfect opportunity. My own son Noah who was just 3 years old at the time, had participated in diddi dance sessions at his nursery and loved it, so I was excited about bringing the diddi dance brand to a new area of the West Midlands and so diddi dance Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire was born!
For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of diddi dance, we offer funky, full of fun 45 minute dance classes for toddlers and pre-school children and their parents/grandparents/carers to enjoy together in a range of venues including village halls, community centres and Children’s Centres. Diddi dance classes have been thoroughly researched and specially designed for this inquisitive and energetic age group by ex professional dancer Anne-Marie Martin with the help of top childcare experts, and the brand has been running successfully for well over 10 years now.
Our classes help young children explore their creativity and love of movement in a safe, fun and relaxed atmosphere where they are also developing a wide range of physical skills such as balance, co-ordination and rhythm as well as their gross motor skills. The activities we do in a class are also aimed at making little ones more confident around others by teaching important social skills like waiting turns, working with a partner, saying please and thank you and handing back props. But most of all, diddi dance is about having lots and lots of fun!
Since starting my own diddi dance business in September 2014 teaching just 8 weekday classes myself, it has grown to a timetable of 19 local classes per week, Mondays to Saturdays (with more to come very soon), regular nursery sessions and lots of diddi dance birthday parties throughout the year. I now have a team of 3 fantastic teachers who each deliver a few classes or sessions a week but I still do a lot of the teaching myself as I just love being a part of the children’s development and seeing their confidence and physical ability grow from strength to strength. As our full programme covers 16 different dance styles over a two year period, we have lots of diddi dancers who are with us from before they turn 2 to when they start reception class at the age of 4 so we are able to build a strong relationship with both the children and their grown-ups.
We have also delivered our fantastic pre-school sessions to numerous local nurseries, play groups and primary schools working with children from as young as 16 months up to 5 years old as always get rave reviews for these just like this one from the University of Wolverhampton’s nursery ‘Little Scholars’
“Both the children in the 2 to 3 years room and the 3 to 5 years room have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the diddi dance sessions we’ve had at our nursery. The teacher who comes is very engaging and great with the children, keeping their attention throughout the sessions which include a nice variety of activities. We definitely hope to book more diddi dance sessions in the near future.”
as the content of our sessions has been cleverly designed to correspond to the 7 learning areas as well as the EYFS outcomes and OFSTED’s school readiness report. Doing a physical activity such as dance at an early age, has also been proven to help prevent obesity in young children and promote a healthy attitude toward exercise which is something both diddi dance, and myself as a mommy are passionate about.
I am so proud of the success of my business for which I have achieved several accolades including runner up ‘diddi debutante’ at the diddi dance AGM in London for success in my first year, nominations for ‘Most Outstanding Pre-school Activity Leader’ for the What’s on 4 Awards in 2016 and I have recently passed all the accreditation criteria for my Bronze CAA (Children’s Activities Association) membership and am currently working towards my Silver accreditation. I have also been able to expand my franchise area twice over the last 3 years to include the town of Stafford and surrounding areas as well as stretching down as far as the Kingswinford and Kinver areas so that we can bring diddi dance to more new children and families.
So to celebrate all that has happened in my first 3 years as owner of diddi dance Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire and Stafford, and to say a big Thank you to all my diddi dance customers and Facebook followers, I am holding an exciting competition that will run throughout the whole of September.
The Birthday competition will be announced on my Facebook page this coming week and will run until the 1st October, after which a winner will be announced. The competition is open to anyone who would like to be in with a chance of winning an awesome diddi dance birthday party for their toddler or pre-school child around the Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire and Stafford area.
