Starting secondary school can feel exciting for some children and overwhelming for others. New teachers, new routines, new friendships, greater independence, and unfamiliar expectations can leave many children feeling unsure of themselves.
Through discussion, activities, real-life scenarios, and guided reflection, children explore what to expect from secondary school and develop a better understanding of the social and practical challenges they may encounter.
Children will explore:
• What to expect from secondary school
• Managing change and uncertainty
• Understanding social expectations
• Friendships and social confidence
• Organisation and independence
• Making thoughtful choices
By increasing their understanding of these areas, children can feel more confident approaching new situations, navigating everyday challenges, building new friendships, and settling into secondary school with greater independence and self-belief.
Small group sessions are our primary service. A limited number of one-to-one sessions are also available for children who may benefit from more individual support. All social mentors working directly with children hold enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training. Places are limited. Book today to reserve a space on our Summer Programme.
