The award winning Really Youthful Theatre Company runs drama classes with a difference.
Inside the mind of a child lies excitement, imagination and a desire to explore. The children in our classes invent their adventure and then we go on it together.
The drama hub is lively and group-based. It includes mime, movement, role play, improvisation. A perfect and collaborative springboard for developing communication, imagination and confidence.
All of our classes are child centred so the young performers decide what they’d like to learn about and then our fabulous director/teachers make that possible. So far they’ve chosen stage fighting, choreography, acting with masks, writing and producing their own original plays, stage makeup, costume design and make up special effects. We are very democratic so there’s always a vote that includes all possible ideas. Any idea that isn’t chosen can be suggested again for a future vote.
Everything that’s important in storytelling and performance is included in all RYTC courses and projects.
– establishing and developing stories
– turning stories into scripts (script writing)
– creating and developing characters
– costume & props
– stage design
– lighting & special effects
All creative subjects include The Arts Award so students will achieve a qualification and receive a certificate.
