As well as getting their bodies moving, karate encourages children to step outside their comfort zone and try new things. Children will carry this strength with them through their lives, equipping them with the confidence to deal with life’s challenges.
Training in karate also teaches children that gender and size are not barriers to achieving success. This can be a very powerful realisation, particularly for children who may be shy or bullied.
Karate is not high-pressure like some activities due to its non-competitive nature. Continuous personal improvement means students only ever find themselves winning, which is a great self-esteem boost.
If you have children of different ages, then you know it can be difficult to find sports or hobbies to keep everyone happy. Karate is suitable for students aged 5+ and runs year-round, making it the perfect activity for all children.
Karate training is also an excellent way to spend quality time together as a family. Some parents may stay and watch or drop their children off, but many choose to join in! Karate is one of few activities where you can participate alongside your child. You could even involve the grandparents for a fun, multi-generational experience!

Ashiita-Kai Karate Kids are fun oriented real karate classes for all ages starting at age 4. We are a sports karate style with a traditional syllabus and practical effective self defence taught at age appropriate levels.
We have classes in 11 venues in Mid Cornwall from Truro to Wadebridge and Fowey.
At Red Eagle Martial Arts we believe that every person can gain many benefits from learning karate, and our aim is to provide a fun, safe environment to learn and develop. We have dedicated junior classes which encourages your child’s personal development on an individual basis, whilst being part of a friendly club.
Karate training isn’t just about learning how to punch or kick, it’s understanding the body mechanics behind it, how by using tai sabaki, which loosely translates into body management, you can make a technique work without having a huge amount of physical strength.
Learning ‘kata’, a set series of moves, they will improve their focus, co-ordination and reflexes. Concentrating on their own movements, almost a form of active meditation, it’ll improve mental strength, developing their ability to deal with daily challenges and obstacles.
Working through our specialised Kitsu syllabus, junior students learn various techniques, padwork and kata ready for grading, demonstrating all they’ve learnt to earn their next belt. There is a set syllabus which sets out their path to earning a black belt.
Being awarded a belt is a fantastic way for your child to demonstrate their hard work and dedication, training regularly and consistently, showing positive behaviour and focus. They’ll feel proud when they put on their gi (karate suit) and belt, they’ll be eager to show you what they’ve learnt every week after training!
Red Eagle Martial Arts will provide them with life skills through a passion for karate that will stay with them for a long time.
