At Flexi-SchoolDyslexia (FSD), we believe dyslexia is never the problem. The problem is that too many bright, capable children are expected to learn in ways that don’t work for them. Our mission is to change that.
Based in the peaceful surroundings of Lested Hall in the Kent countryside, FSD provides specialist support for children aged 8–16 with dyslexia and associated learning differences. As a recognised provider on the Kent County Council SEND Local Offer, we work alongside families and schools to provide specialist intervention that complements each child’s education.
Every child is unique, so every programme is carefully tailored to their individual strengths, challenges and learning style. Using evidence-based, multisensory teaching in small groups, our experienced specialist team helps children develop reading, writing and spelling skills while rebuilding confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
Many of the children who come to us have experienced anxiety, school avoidance, or Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Others are home-educated, with families seeking specialist dyslexia support to complement their child’s personalised learning journey. Margaret Rooke – Dyslexia Books
If you want to inspire and encourage a child with dyslexia, take a look at the books by Margaret Rooke. These are written in the words of young people and help prevent other children from feeling isolated and alone.
The books help children to recognise their own special skills, talents and strengths – all key to helping them to thrive.
Margaret is best known for the universally popular bestseller Dyslexia is My Superpower (Most of the Time), and her book for primary children, Meet the Dyslexia Club!. In both, children explain how they learn best at home and school; what helps them and what stands in their way.
Her latest book is Life After School: Dyslexic and Taking on the World!. This explores how positive life after school can be for young people with dyslexia. They leave the classroom behind and can use their creativity and problem-solving skills and follow their instincts to build a bright future for themselves.
