Activity Description

We would like to say a big warm hello! We are Claire & Gemma and we own JA Performing Arts.

We offer specialist dance training for Boys and Girls from the age of 2 years upwards in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Drama, Hip Hop/Street and Musical Theatre.

We also offer adult classes in Tap and Ballet too!

We are sisters originally from Clacton who took over JA Performing Arts in 2015. Our Performing Arts and Dance school is a family orientated as it is exactly that, a family! Our Mum, Jackie, founded the dance school in 1988 – we never remember a time without the school!  We have always been hard workers, from working for Mum at the school on a Saturday morning, to now owning the school, we will NEVER be happy to sit back!  Our promise is to always give our students the best opportunities we can.

It is so important to us that you and your child have the most positive experience with us, from the very first enquiry through to joining our school and becoming part of our JA family. Our past students come back time and time again, many even attending our adult classes!

We like to think we are a little more than a dance school. From our tiny tots, to getting our seniors ready for college auditions, we want to make sure students are treated with respect, dignity & nurtured into the performers they were meant to be. Quality is exceptionally important to us. Many of our former students have gone on to train at Vocational colleges such as Arts Ed, The Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama and Laine Theatre Arts to name a few.

We ensure our students are given many opportunities to perform, they will also work towards ISTD Examinations in their chosen genres but if your son/daughter would like to just come along for “fun” then that’s OK too!

We also provide adult classes in Tap and Ballet, which prove to be super popular!

All classes are held in our impressive purpose-built Studios in Clacton.

Classes are on Saturdays at the below times for the different age ranges

2.30pm – 3.15pm – 4-7 years
3.15pm – 4pm – 7 -10 years
4pm – 4.45pm – 11+

It is an amalgamation of both Dance technique and acrobatic movements. The transition is made to be elegant, smooth and dynamic. The new, athletic movements will be added into performances to allow your child to perform what they have been perfecting in class!

Acro will help with body strength, flexibility and confidence. Students will work on their upper and lower body strength and this will work perfectly alongside their weekly technique classes.
