Spring Scavenger Hunt

Spring Scavenger Hunt

Spring activities for kids don’t always have to be complex or cost a lot. Why not play eye spy with your child when you are next on a walk somewhere? And they may want to collect some signs of spring such as Daffodils.

You can also listen to birds singing, feel how the weather is warmer, maybe the sun is shining? You can use all of the senses to observe signs of Spring.

Miniature Spring Garden – Spring Activities for Kids

Miniature Spring Garden

Leading on from our spring scavenger hunt idea once your child has collected lots of lovely signs of spring they can make something with it. They may want to stick a few things on a piece of paper and make a collage or a really lovely, messy play. Spring Idea for kids is to make a little garden. You can put the daffodils, grass, soil, into a tub or a tuff tray if you have one. Then make a miniature spring garden with your little ones. They may want to add toy farm animals and some water to represent a pond for even more fun. We would love to see your creations If you do get involved in this particular one of our Spring activities for kids.

If your child loves being out in nature and thrives outdoors take a look at our directory to see if you can find any nature/outdoor classes by you.

Make a Spring Crown – Spring Activities for Kids

Make a Spring Crown

Another very simple Spring activity you could do with all of the lovely spring flowers you have found is make a crown with your child.

If you cut out a paper crown and pop some double sided sticky tape on, the child could then stick on any flowers or leaves they find making a beautiful colourful crown and keeping them busy for a good 10 minutes.

Gardening Activities for Kids

When spring arrives another fantastic activity you can do with your children if gardening. Maybe they could help you or maybe they could plant some seeds. It’s fascinating for children watching plants grow shoots and then start to grow and grow and eventually grow produce that they have planted.

Here are a few easy but fun seeds you may want to plant with your little one during the Spring:

  • Brassicas
  • Spring radishes
  • Chard and beets
  • Legumes
  • Basil
  • Summer squash.

We would love to see pictures of you or your family gardening and crops.

Creative Spring Activities for Kids

Creative Spring Activities for Kids

As the weather gets warmer you can take advantage of the Spring sunshine and enjoy art outside. If you have a chalk wall or board or even concrete, have fun with chalking some pictures. This is also great for developing fine motor skills.

Another one to add to our Spring activities for kids list is most definitely Leaf or tree rubbing! Children really enjoy watching the markings from leaves or trees. Children put paper over their leaf or trees, choose a colour and rub until they see the pattern emerge on their paper. This spring activity can be done from a very young age! If it’s a bit colder you can always wrap up warm.

Having a Good Run in the Fresh Air

Having a good run in the fresh air

The next one to add to our Spring Activities list is a very simple one, to go to a park or an open field with your children and just let them blow off some steam and let all that energy out as you grab a five minute break. Children absolutely love being able to run, roll, play together in the sunshine.

If you would like to go somewhere specific why not take a look at our directory to see if there’s anywhere close by that you maybe didn’t know or think of.
