Northwood Valiants Basketball Club – Stoke-on-Trent

Northwood Valiants Basketball Club have been operating in the Stoke-on-Trent area since 2004 and was originally established for the purpose of offering underprivileged kids in the Hanley area a chance to be part of a community. The club has grown over the years and we now offer basketball to kids of all ages and abilities between 6 and 18, with two adult’s teams also operating in the West Midlands Basketball League.

Basketball is a fast paced 5 a side sport that allows participation for kids of all ages and ability. Teamwork, communication, coordination and cardiovascular fitness are all areas which playing basketball will help improve. The club is affiliated with Basketball England, the nationally governing body which sanctions all competitive areas of the sport.

At Northwood Valiants we aim to teach basketball to beginners in the form of fun scenario-based games which will help improve player’s dribbling, passing, shooting and decision making abilities. Sessions are designed so that individual and team progression is praised, and areas for improvement are highlighted.

As the club was initially set up to help the disadvantaged, our ethos is that all kids should be able to play the game and participate, regardless of social or financial position. As such, we take measures to ensure our sessions are as affordable as possible, with sessions for Under 7s and Under 12s costing just £3 for an hour and Under 18s sessions priced at £5 for Two hours.

All of our sessions take place at the YMCA in Hanley, session times as follows:

  • Under 7s – Saturday 9-10am
  • Under 12s – Saturday 10-11am
  • Under 18s – Saturday 11-1pm

Other sessions for Team members can be found, with other information, on our Facebook and Instagram pages, which can be found here: linktr.ee/northwoodvaliants

Trowbridge basketball Club

Trowbridge basketball Club is one of the leading clubs in Wiltshire which offer basketball to a wide range of ages, gender and abilities.

Trowbridge Basketball Club began as a team called the ‘Trowbridge Hawks’ and started in division 4 of the West of England Basketball League. In 1999/2000 the team won their first trophy. They then became division two champions in 2005. The Hawks then went on to win the trophy two more times in 2009/2010 & 2010/2011.

Our women’s team the ‘Phoenix Flames’ started life as a team in September 1983 in Melksham, before moving to Chippenham in 1992, where they enjoyed many successes. The team eventually settled in Trowbridge in 2005 and became Phoenix Flames, where they won the Trophy in their first season.

2014 was a decisive year for the Club as it was the year our very own CVL(Central venue league) was born. In 2017 we officially became the TBL(Trowbridge basketball League) and have since grown to become an 8 team league.

In 2022 we have over 200 active members at our club with over 260 members on our facebook group. We also have over 250 followers on our Trowbridge basketball League page.

2022 is a big year for the Club as we make plans to develop our Junior programme into Age specific teams due to high demand.
