Toddler Talking – Chilham

Activity Description

In addition to using BSL signs to help little ones communicate more easily, our toddler classes have a strong focus on supporting developing speech, as well as working on social skills such as taking turns, following instructions, teamwork and sharing. The classes are really active, and are best suited to little ones who are confident walkers and happy to be in a lively environment!  Usually this is around 18 months, but we do have children who start much sooner than this if they are more physically confident and/or are happy to be in a busy environment. We cover a new theme each week, use lots of fun props and sing all your favourite children’s songs!

Many parents find the classes help enormously with their child’s confidence and social skills as well as their talking!

We use around 250 signs in class (a handful learned each week), and work on themes such as colours, numbers, shapes as well as fun stuff like vehicles, sports, animals and feelings.

The classes are a great way to spend quality time with your small people while hanging out with likeminded bigger people, and feeling connected to a social group of other families all sharing their experiences, tips, frustrations and milestones!  Our current families have seen first hand how lovely it is to still be part of a group, be able to take the pressure off for an hour in terms of entertaining the children, and to feel ‘among friends’ for a little while chatting with each other during the social time.
