Activity Description

Step into a world of wonder and curiosity, journey through time and meet people from across the world.

Manchester Museum is a place for joy and connection, where young visitors are welcome to play and explore.

Say hello to Stan the Tyrannosaurus rex, meet rare and colourful frogs and lizards, find out what life was like in Ancient Egypt and immerse yourself in the natural world.

You can learn how to think like a palaeontologist in our Dinosaur and Fossils Gallery and follow the story of our changing world, from a 300-million-year-old fossil tree and a fragmented rock showing the moment the asteroid hit Earth through to Ice Age animals.

The Vivarium is the only place outside of Central America where you’ll find the beautiful and critically-endangered Harlequin frog, while our Living Worlds gallery is packed full of amazing animals and insects, including a huge sperm whale skeleton hanging above.

Find out about life and death in ancient Egypt in the Egypt and Sudan Gallery, and discover the rich culture of South Asia and China through fascinating objects, films, music and personal stories in the South Asia Gallery and Chinese Culture Gallery.

The Museum is free and there’s always something to see. Visit during school holidays and there are plenty of free activities to get stuck into, including fun trails, craft workshops and exciting special events.
