Got a hole in your favourite bag? Jeans starting to feel a little boring? Join us at the Scrapstore to learn how to mend and decorate, making the things you love last longer.
What’s included:
– learn a range of techniques such as patching, printing and weaving, so that you know how to do mending at home
– print or decorate your own scrap fabric patches with paint
– weave using scrap materials, both as an act of mending and a nice thing in itself.
Sessions are child-led. We will provide an abundance of materials for you to explore and give you any guidance and support you need to bring your ideas to life! Make as many different creations as you want and you can take them all home.
The theme of these sessions are a starting point for your child’s creativity. The Playroom is full of resources and is a space to explore ideas. Your child may choose to do something different which is fine by us!
Please note: This workshop is aimed at children aged 5+. Younger siblings are welcome but please be mindful that we will be using sewing needles, scissors and small parts so it may not be age appropriate. Older children are also welcome.
All bookings include one-day membership to the Scrapstore Warehouse, where you can collect up to a basket of scrap for a donation of £6 (less if the basket isn’t full).
Children’s Scrapstore is a local charity dedicated to making waste things play things. We work with sustainable resources that have been donated rather than going into landfill.
Our focus is on play and creativity, sessions are child-led. We won’t dictate what your child does. We just provide some materials, prompts and guidance for them to explore the materials as they wish.
