Activity Description

DIG is a hands-on archaeological adventure giving kids the chance to become trainee ‘diggers’ and discover the most exciting artefacts from 2000 years of York’s history! Tours last one hour and we strongly advise you pre-book your place.

What is inside?
With four special indoor excavation pits, all based on real-life digs in the city and filled with replica Roman, Viking, medieval and Victorian finds, children can grab a trowel and explore how people lived in these times. Your experience will also include a talk from an archaeologist and getting up close to real archaeological artefacts!

We’ve got plenty of safety and social distancing procedures in place, which you can read about on our website.

DIG is a great experience for ages 5-12, with a fun play area for under 5s. For children under 3yrs admission is free of charge.
