Kids Birthday Parties with a Difference – Kindergifts

We recently met with the founder of Kindergifts, a London mum Svetlana Nilsson who is on a mission to simplify the birthday party gifts tradition, make parties less wasteful and more purposeful.  Instead of presents, this new online invitation and party management platform helps parents to pool together towards the purchase of a collective gift and a portion of the funds is donated to a good cause chosen by the child. So, everyone is a winner – the child gets a dream gift and learns to share; it’s much easier for the guests to chip in instead of buying individual presents; there is less clutter and waste at home.

And it feels good to do good!

How it works?

The parent and child send a Kindergifts party invitation with gift and charity details (see a sample invitation). Kindergifts offers a wide range of beautiful online invitations that can be easily personalised with the child’s photo, party details and message.

There are also plenty of group gift suggestions and an impressive range of good causes that children can relate to. When the guests RSVP, they have the option to chip in online towards a collective present instead of buying gifts. In the end, the parent buys the present with the gift amount collected and a portion of the proceeds is donated to the charity chosen by the birthday child.

So, what is there not to like? The child receives a cool birthday gift, something that she/he really wants, and at the same time learns about giving back.

“Parents often tell us that Kindergifts is great for children but it’s even better for the guests”, says Svetlana Nilsson, founder of Kindergifts. “I think of all the parties we’ve been to with the kids and all the presents we had to buy or receive.
