✈️ BYP Holiday Club – Middlezoy Aerodrome
Get ready for an action-packed week of rockets, engineering, navigation, airfield operations, and hands-on aviation at Middlezoy Aerodrome. This exciting 5-day holiday club is designed for students who want to go beyond simply learning about aircraft and instead experience how aviation really works.
Unlike some of our simulator-focused holiday clubs, Middlezoy offers a uniquely hands-on aviation experience centred around real airfield operations, practical engineering, navigation, and live aviation environments. Based at a working aerodrome, students will step into the shoes of pilots, engineers, air traffic coordinators, and ground crews while taking part in exciting practical challenges across the week.
Throughout the week, students will take part in a range of exciting themed days, including:
🚀 Rockets Day
Explore the fascinating science behind rockets, propulsion, and flight. Students will learn how rockets generate thrust, maintain stability, and are used in aviation, defence, and space exploration before taking part in exciting rocket-building and launch challenges.
⚙️ Aircraft Engineering & Technical Day
Get up close to real aircraft and go beyond a standard walkaround to explore how aircraft are built and maintained. Students may have opportunities to see inside engine components, explore aircraft systems beneath the cowling, and examine real engineering systems including pistons, cylinders, spark plugs, and flight controls.
🎧 Air Traffic Control & Airfield Operations Day
Step into the world of air traffic control and discover how aircraft movements are safely coordinated both on the ground and in the air. Students will learn aviation communication, practise ATC and pilot phraseology, and work together to simulate real operational airfield scenarios.
🛩️ Aircraft Marshalling Day
Learn how aircraft are safely guided around airfields and discover the vital role of aircraft marshallers in aviation operations. Students will learn and practise real marshalling signals before taking part in practical teamwork challenges inspired by live airfield operations.
🗺️ Navigation & Mission Challenge Day
Discover how pilots plan routes, make operational decisions, and navigate safely using maps, headings, timings, visual checkpoints, and communication. Students will put their skills into practice through exciting mission-based navigation challenges.
