About Nicole Bateman, The Friendly SEND Advisor

Nicole Bateman is The Friendly SEND Advisor, a passionate advocate, best-selling author, and expert in sensory processing and neurodiversity. Through her consultancy, she supports children’s activity providers and educators in creating inclusive, sensory-friendly environments, ensuring all children can thrive.

Nicole is also the co-founder of The Super Sensory Squad, where she helps children understand their sensory systems, equipping them with strategies for self-regulation and empowering families to advocate for sensory needs. The Squad’s playful, penguin-led approach makes learning about sensory processing engaging and accessible for families facing everyday challenges.

With over a decade of teaching experience, Nicole shifted to full-time advocacy after her autistic son was diagnosed with epilepsy. Her personal journey led her to develop resources to support neurodivergent children. She also hosts the Conversations with a SEND Mum podcast, offering support and insights to parents navigating special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

In addition to her advocacy work, Nicole is a skilled book formatter and publisher, helping authors bring their stories to life. Through her varied roles, Nicole is dedicated to creating a more inclusive world for children with sensory and emotional needs.
