16th MAY 2024: A business from Kent, which is the UK’s largest kids activities directory for antenatal to 18 years was celebrated as best Digital business at this year’s Small Awards.
Club Hub UK won the award which recognises small businesses that operate only through digital channels. The award will celebrates strong use of digital channels to engage customers, innovation in web design and functionality, and growth in audience over time.
Owner Tessa Day, who founded Club Hub UK in 2016, was awarded at a sparkling celebration event in central London, hosted by presenter, writer, actor and comedian, Sue Perkins.
“After graduating from drama school I created “Tessa’s Jazz Hands”, a weekly musical theatre club for primary aged children. I initially struggled to promote my club to the local community. The main advertising options were traditional methods, such as parent magazines and handing out flyers at school gates, the cost and practicalities of these were prohibitive. This is how the idea for Club Hub came about, an online directory where parents can input their location, child’s age, and interest, and a list of results come up in geographical order. In 2016, at the age of 23, I launched the Club Hub website and app.
Club Hub is now the largest kids activities directory in the UK, it offers kids activity providers an essential platform to promote their businesses to parents and carers online. Parents can locate kids clubs and activities for newborns to 18 years, anywhere in the UK, on our website or app.
In 2023, we updated the website, improving the customer search experience with more readable fonts and a popular categories carousel on the homepage. We made the call to action more prominent, which increases referrals and improves the website for our children’s activity provider membership.”
Club Hub UK said “I am passionate about the children’s activities sector and I enjoy being a spokesperson for it. I apply for awards for recognition and awareness for my business and to benefit the membership community that I support. Thank you to Small Business Britain for an amazing evening at the Small Awards. It was incredible to be among so many fantastic small businesses and celebrate all their successes”.
