Become a toreador for a day with Carmen!
In this one-day session Oxford Opera will explore the glamorous and dangerous world of Bizet’s beloved opera ‘Carmen’. The group will dive into the story of this world-famous opera and devise some of their own scenes inspired by the drama, as well as learning some of the music and putting together a short showcase to perform to parents and friends at the end of the day. Our trainee toreadors will explore stagecraft and music, and will have the opportunity to put their own spin on this powerful love story.
This workshop will run from 10.00 – 16.30 [with our performance at 16.15], and we offer flexible drop off / pick up from 9.00 – 10.00, and 16.30 – 17.00. The workshop will take place at St Peter and St Paul’s Church Hall, Botley, and will be led by opera industry professionals. This workshop is suitable for 10 – 14s.
Please be aware that ‘Carmen’ contains adult themes, including violence and death, which will be addressed in a manner appropriate for this age group.
