In National Children’s Activity Week 2022, Tumble Tots aim to raise awareness of a shocking statistic that only 11.1% of preschool children meet the daily physical activity recommendations.
National Children’s Activity Week (or NCAW for short) is a campaign held every October in Tumble Tots classes across the country to highlight the importance of physical activity for children.
Tumble Tots’ key aim is to develop children’s essential ‘Skills for Life’ and to create a positive association with physical activity at an early age, helping little ones grow up healthy and happy.
Guidance from the Chief Medical Officers in the UK states that children under the age of 5 years should be physically active for at least 180 minutes (3 hours) every day. But according to recent studies, only 11.1% of 2–4-year-olds are achieving this. *
A Tumble Tots class contributes 45 minutes to a child’s daily recommended amount of physical activity, which equates to 25%. But even after classes, children still need to be active for an additional 2 hours and 15 minutes and on days when little ones don’t attend classes, 3 hours can seem like a lot to achieve.
In National Children’s Activity Week 2022, Tumble Tots will be spreading awareness of the need for preschool children to be more active for their health and happiness. Physically activity is crucial in all stages of life to maintain a healthy body and mind, but even more so in the early years as 90% of the brain develops age 5.
Tumble Tots’ aim is to spread awareness of the physical activity recommendations in preschool children and to give parents the knowledge on ways to keep their little ones moving for 3 hours throughout the day.
In classes, Tumble Tots Members will be given the chance to take part in all sorts of different activities and exercises to give them the knowledge and confidence to reach the daily recommended activity levels beyond sessions.
Anyone can join in with National Children’s Activity Week as Tumble Tots has put together a handy guide full of ideas on ways to help keep little ones active whether they attended classes or not. This can be downloaded from the website: https://bit.ly/ttncaw22
