Wellbeing Support for Birmingham Mums/Moms

Interested in Wellbeing Support for Birmingham Mums/Moms? – Picture This!

It’s 11pm at night in Birmingham. Your baby is two months old. She won’t settle. You can’t remember the last time you slept well. You feel overwhelmed. No matter how hard you try, you never feel enough. This parenting thing is so much harder than you ever imagined it could be. You keep being told to ‘sleep when baby sleeps’; you’ve never done it. You want a break.

The worst of it is that you think the other mums are loving it. They all look well put together and in control. About the only thing you control is …. well, pretty much nothing as you can’t even go to the loo by yourself.

I Get It

Wellbeing Support for Birmingham Mums/MomsHow do I know this?

Because I have been where you are and I meet weekly with lots of mums who feel the same. We are all good mums and there is so much about this mum job we love but there are also things that scare us, frustrate us, heap guilt on us and we feel lonely sometimes.

How Do You Feel Better?

I run Mother and Baby Circles, wellbeing support for Birmingham Mums. These are groups for you and your baby to be with other mums so that you can check in with what their reality is really like. It’s where you can be honest about how you’re feeling without worrying what anyone thinks. It’s all about you in our 90 minute sessions.

Coming to one of these will make you feel better.

What Do They Look Like?

Wellbeing Support for Birmingham Mums/MomsWe sit together in a Circle on mats. It’s welcoming; not weird. We’re all a bit nervous to begin with but that soon disappears as we talk about what being a mum is like.

What Do We Do? – Wellbeing Support for Birmingham Mums/Moms

We talk about stuff. We stretch our tired bodies and we relax. Each week, I guide you through a 15 minute relaxation and you get to rest. Yes, even with your baby. I promise that you will get to lie down.

These are some of the things at we might talk about:

  • How supported are you feeling?
  • What are your biggest emotions?
  • How does your pre-baby version of parenting relate to the reality of it?
  • If you had a Fairy Godmother, what would you wish for?
  • Where can you ask for help?

We also eat biscuits and there is always a hot drink for you.

How Do They Feel?

Wellbeing Support for Birmingham Mums/MomsPeaceful, calm, funny, chaotic, beautiful, messy, friendly and safe. One mum explained it like this, ‘The group gave me a safe space to share what I was going through and I felt listened to. It also gave me a lot of confidence in being the kind of mum I wanted to be, and that support helped me trust my own instincts. I can honestly say I don’t know what I would have done without the support and listening ears of the other mums.’

Who Goes?

Mums of all ages and backgrounds. First time mums. Mums who have three other children. Mums who bottle feed. Mums who breastfeed. Mums who co-sleep. Those who don’t. Mums who had a difficult birth and those who had the birth experience they wanted. Some with partners at home, some who work away and some doing it by themselves.

There will be mums there just like you. Mums looking for postnatal wellbeing support in Birmingham.

Why Go?

To feel better about yourself and how you are doing. To make friends. To give you space to reconnect, bond, feel calm and find the strength you need to face the week. Honest conversations with other mums here in Birmingham gives you a sounding board to check in with and talking things out is often the only way to feel less alone. These mums are here to be your friends. I am here to keep you all safe.

Why Do I Do This?

Birmingham Mums/MomsBecause I suffered from postnatal depression and it was a very sad time for me. I found early motherhood to be isolating and lonely. I don’t want you to feel like that. I want you to know that you’re doing a really good job and that other mums feel the way you do sometimes.

Is It Sad or Woo Woo?

No, we uplift each other even when there are tears. No-one can keep their emotions in check all the time and you shouldn’t have to. The purpose of a ‘Wellbeing Support for Birmingham Mums Group’ is so that we can stop pretending it’s all ok on those days when it isn’t. Most of us are mostly ok but we are never ok all the time.

It’s not woo woo. You’re never asked to open your heart or share your innermost secrets. There are no ceremonies. You only have to share if you want to. I know how to look after you and your baby.
