Little Ballers – Basketball Clubs for Kids in Durham

Little Ballers is a fundamental skills program for children from the age of 6months to 5 years old that runs in Durham city. Key skills are taught to children through a basketball themed class. Little ballers sessions are 45 minutes long, they are delivered by a qualified PE teacher with over 13 years experience and are fun filled and interactive.

All the activities are carried out along to fun music which the children love. The sessions are planned with great detail to ensure that all the children make progress in skills including balance, coordination, movement skills, rolling, throwing, catching and jumping. Little Ballers classes run in 6 week blocks and each child receives a free t-shirt when they join.

Northwood Valiants Basketball Club in Stoke-on-Trent

Northwood Valiants Basketball Club have been operating in the Stoke-on-Trent area since 2004 and was originally established for the purpose of offering underprivileged kids in the Hanley area a chance to be part of a community. The club has grown over the years and we now offer basketball to kids of all ages and abilities between 6 and 18, with two adult’s teams also operating in the West Midlands Basketball League.

Basketball is a fast paced 5 a side sport that allows participation for kids of all ages and ability. Teamwork, communication, coordination and cardiovascular fitness are all areas which playing basketball will help improve. The club is affiliated with Basketball England, the nationally governing body which sanctions all competitive areas of the sport.

At Northwood Valiants we aim to teach basketball to beginners in the form of fun scenario-based games which will help improve player’s dribbling, passing, shooting and decision making abilities. Sessions are designed so that individual and team progression is praised, and areas for improvement are highlighted.

As the club was initially set up to help the disadvantaged, our ethos is that all kids should be able to play the game and participate, regardless of social or financial position. As such, we take measures to ensure our sessions are as affordable as possible, with sessions for Under 7s and Under 12s costing just £3 for an hour and Under 18s sessions priced at £5 for Two hours.

All of our sessions take place at the YMCA in Hanley, session times as follows:

• Under 7s – Saturday 9-10am
• Under 12s – Saturday 10-11am
• Under 18s – Saturday 11-1pm

Oxford HOOPS Basketball Club (est. 1995)  is known for its teaching, coaching, inspirational leaders and constant improvement of players.

Power Forward Basketball was born out of a passion to create a positive, progressive learning environment within basketball. Head Coach Eddie Owusu is an ex pro basketball player with 30 years coaching experience.

Power Forward Basketball is powerful community of young, aspiring basketball players aged 6 to 18 years old from across the South. We are based in Winchester, Hampshire and are independent of any club. We host various camps in school holidays for different abilities, all players are welcome.  Skills camp is for beginners looking to try the game and those who want to develop their current skills.  Elite camp is for National League and Regional players. This is an invitational only event but we welcome coach recommendations from clubs with players desiring to attend.

We also offer one-to-one and small group coaching of 2-4 players.  These sessions take place after school.

Swadlincote Lasers is no ordinary basketball club.  We are a community ran organisation that has a vibe of unity and family.  Our passion is to convey a love of the sport, while educating our players in the skill set required to progress, evolve, be successful, and feel part of a team.  Since being established in September 2021, we have grown from strength to strength.

Based at Greenbank Leisure Centre in Swadlincote, and training players from 7 years through to 19 years, our coaching ranges from beginner level through to the more experienced player.  Our coaches don’t only deliver education on basketball, but they are immersed in the sport themselves, being players as well as coaches and having experience in the sport for many years. They genuinely care about the children, which is visible in the way they teach.  Providing twice weekly training sessions, along with guest led bootcamps, focusing on sprint work, skills and drills, and offensive/defensive play.
