Activity Description

This December, everyone is welcome to the British Motor Museum’s Winter Access Day, to enjoy a visitor experience without barriers for the widest possible audience! On Monday 22 December, discover a showcase of our existing initiatives, as well as a whole host of exciting accessible activities, allowing everyone to enjoy some holiday fun!

Touch and Access Tours will be running throughout the day, allowing visitors to get up close to a number of the cars in the Museum. Specially adapted crafts will be running as well, making getting involved easy for everybody.

Relaxed Hours will be held between 9am-10am and 5pm-7pm. Audiovisuals and hand dryers will be switched off (paper towels will be provided), and the lighting will be lowered, allowing those who need a quieter environment to enjoy our collections to the fullest! For anyone who needs a bit of time out, there will be a quiet room available in the Museum’s Learning Hub throughout the day. The Junction 12 Café will also be extending its opening hours, remaining open for visitors until 6:30pm.

Our SEND and Sensory bags are available to use during your visit, providing a range of items, from PECS Cards to fidget toys, to help make your visit easier. Wheelchairs are also available to borrow from the Museum Pay Desk (we recommend you book these in advance).

Essential carers/companions are admitted to the Museum free of charge, and you can find ample accessible parking, step-free access across the site, and a permanent Changing Places toilet.

Access Day is just one of the ways we aim to create the best Museum experience for those with additional needs. We continuously review, upgrade and change our practices, to make the Museum as welcoming and inclusive as possible.

For more information regarding access and your visit to the Museum, including our Access video, visit our Access page here: https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/plan-your-visit/access-and-facilities

All activities are free with general admission.
