Who’s your favourite superhero? Ever wondered how their super powers work? Join us this summer to explore the science behind your favourite superheroes! Every Sunday throughout August we’ll be exploring 6 different superheroes discovering their magic powers!

All workshops are suitable for children aged 4+ years.

August 6th – Super Science Heroes
Elastagirl – Explore non-Newtonian fluids and find out what makes materials extra stretchy by making very stretchy slime to take home.
Iron Man – Become an engineer just like Iron Man and create a vortex cannon to shoot huge blasts of air (take home).
Loki – Join the Master of Illusions in exploring how our brain works to make us see things that perhaps arn’t there!
Magneto – Harness the magnetic power of Magneto to make a superhero fly.
Thor – Hold lightning in your hands just like Thor and move objects using static electricity.
Antman – Explore the invisible world of atoms by growing and shrinking marshmallows with a special pump.

August 13th – Superhero Science
Hulk Smash – Explore the world of smart materials with our Oobleck tank to look at how materials change when a big force is applied (take home).
Batman – Get creative with gadgets just like Batman and build a balloon powered Batmobile (take home).
Daredevil – Ever wondered how your senses work? We’ll put you to the test with a whole series of experiments designed to see how effective your senses are. Do you have the senses of a superhero?
Storm – Learn how to create a storm in a cup and create your very own storm spinners (take home) that use harness the power of air.
Superman – What makes Superman fly? Explore the science of flight and aerodynamics by creating the World’s Greatest Airplane.
Aquaman – Explore the properties of water tension and create a superhero diver capable of swimming to very bottom of the ocean!

August 20th – Science Supers
Venom – Ever wondered how Venom was created? Explore Ferrofluid and make your very own Venom slime!
Spiderman – Make a robotic version of Spiderman’s arm with weblike strings (take home).
Cyclops – Explore the confusing world of vision with upside down goggles.
Mystique – Explore Chromatography to find out how Mystique can change into lots of different colours.
Flash – Are you faster than Flash? Test your reaction times to find out!
Falcon – How does Falcon glide so effortlessly? It’s all in the physics! Create Balancing Falcons using physics (take home).
