About Our Sensory Integration Classes:
These sessions are designed for children and young people (4-16) with sensory, communication, and mobility needs.
Instructions are kept to a minimum, mainly to ensure safety in the gym at all times, and to give a sense of direction.
Our fantastic SEN instructors will follow children’s interests and will gently guide them to perform sensory movement within a playful approach, whether it’s rolling on an air barrel, swinging on the bars, jumping on a springboard, climbing on the vault, spinning in the hammock or simply relaxing in the den.
3 SEN instructors.
Groups of 6 children (8 for school visits).
We offer a small, clean, safe and well-equipped sensory space that already attracts members from a wide area. The interior is fun, colourful and equipped with sensory props and toys, mats, bars, beams, rings, inflatable equipment, soft props and we have an amazing lighting and audio system. Children can swing, climb, roll, lay, jump and hop all under supervision.
Why Is the Vestibular System Important
The vestibular system, nestled in the inner ear, is essentially the body’s “balance centre.” It provides crucial information about movement, spatial orientation and gravitational forces.
For children, a well-functioning vestibular system is paramount. It forms the foundation for various motor skills, including balance, coordination and the ability to navigate space effectively.
When the vestibular system is properly stimulated through activities like swinging, spinning, or rocking — essentially, the kinds of activities that vestibular toys and tools provide — it not only enhances these motor skills but also contributes to overall sensory integration.
Moreover, a well-regulated vestibular system has a positive impact on a child’s attention, focus and emotional regulation. It’s the key to a child feeling secure and confident in their movements, thereby influencing their ability to engage in various activities with ease.
Incorporating vestibular toys and activities into your child’s routine isn’t just about play; it’s a strategic way to support their sensory needs and lay the groundwork for confident, coordinated, and well-balanced development.
