The Pre-Primary Ballet Class, RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) is designed to introduce young dancers, aged 5–6, to the foundational elements of ballet in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. This class prepares students for the Pre-Primary in Dance assessment, which is an informal evaluation celebrating each child’s individual progress and creativity.
Key Features of the Pre-Primary Ballet Class:
• Creative Movement: Students explore basic movements like skipping, galloping, and marching, fostering coordination and musicality.
• Fundamental Ballet Technique: Introduction to posture, alignment, and basic positions of the arms and feet.
• Musical Awareness: Activities focus on rhythm and timing through dynamic exercises set to varied music.
• Expression and Storytelling: Dancers use movement to convey feelings and stories, developing confidence and imagination.
• Social Interaction: Partner and group activities encourage teamwork, spatial awareness, and cooperation.
Exam Preparation:
The class follows the RAD syllabus, emphasizing enjoyment and self-expression while gently introducing the structure of ballet training. The Pre-Primary exam is a non-competitive opportunity where dancers perform a set of exercises and dances in a familiar setting to showcase their progress.
Goals:
• Build a solid foundation for future ballet training.
• Develop physical skills such as balance, coordination, and strength.
• Foster a love of dance and creativity in young learners.
This class is ideal for young children beginning their ballet journey, ensuring they gain confidence and a strong start in their dance education.
This class is for students looking to sit their RAD examinations.
