Markshall is a hidden gem in the heart of Essex. Home to trees from across the world, formal gardens, and miles of leafy woodland walks to explore and enjoy. The Orchard Kitchen serves a delicious selection of refreshments, lunches, and specials from the 15th Century Essex barn.

Markshall covers 2,200 acres of Essex countryside. It includes an arboretum with trees from across the world, ancient woodland walks, formal gardens, and tenanted farmland. The Charitable Trust was established in 1971 and relies hugely on the support of visitors, Friends of Markshall Estate, donors, and volunteers to achieve its charitable aims. Markshall Estate’s last private owner, Thomas Phillips Price, left the Estate as a gift to the Nation “for the advancement of agriculture, arboriculture and forestry.”
