Dreamcatcher Film Camp gives students a hands-on, immersive experience of filmmaking, where they work together as a small production team to develop ideas, write scenes, act, direct, operate cameras, record sound, and edit footage, culminating in a completed short film. Alongside this, they gain exposure to the collaborative nature of the industry and the creative decision-making that sits behind every stage of production.
Alongside the filmmaking project, students also take part in specialist bootcamps covering directing, acting, scriptwriting, production and stunt performance. This year’s stunt and screen fighting workshop will be led by Sean Adames, a 27-year stunt veteran whose credits include The Dark Knight Rises, Mission: Impossible, Fast & Furious, Pennyworth and 28 Years Later.
We have also developed two dedicated career-focused masterclasses for students considering film, television, media, games or other creative disciplines at university and beyond.
Potential Progression Routes into the Industry explores the different pathways into creative careers, including university courses, apprenticeships, work experience, portfolio building, film festivals, and networking.
Standing Out from the Competition – Getting Hired focuses on the professional skills that make a real difference in the industry, including communication, collaboration, pitching ideas, leadership, self-awareness, preparing CVs and personal statements, and understanding how to present yourself effectively when applying for courses or roles.
We also explore how to understand the energy and working rhythm of a film set and the wider industry, including how to read the room, adapt to different environments, and develop your own creative identity-your voice, your brand, and how to position yourself as a strong fit within creative teams.
These sessions have also been developed in line with work we deliver in partnership with the British Film Institute (BFI), ensuring the content reflects current industry expectations and pathways into further education and the creative industries.
