Arts Instruct – Online Art Projects for Ages 11–14 (KS3)

Activity Description

I’m Jo, a PGCE-qualified UK art teacher, and I created Arts Instruct for parents who want their child to enjoy art and learn key skills — without having to plan lessons or feel unsure what to do next.

Arts Instruct is an online art membership for children aged 11–14, although confident or creatively curious younger children may also enjoy some projects with adult support. It’s ideal for home-educated and flexibly educated students, or for children who simply love art and would like projects that build skills, confidence and independence without pressure.

Children follow short, step-by-step video lessons at a time that suits your family, with projects inspired by artists and art movements. I focus on the elements of art (line, tone, colour, texture and composition) so your child builds real skills and confidence — even if they often say, “I’m not good at drawing.”

Each month includes a structured project plus printable support sheets, and students can pause, replay and work at their own pace using affordable, accessible materials.

Having a deep understanding of how overwhelm, perfectionism and procrastination can affect learning, I’m careful to design art lessons that feel achievable rather than intimidating. My approach supports children to work at their own pace, build confidence gradually and enjoy the creative process without pressure.

My projects are designed to encourage individuality and not just copying a finished outcome, helping children develop confidence, independence and their own creative voice.
