Published on 29th April 2025 by Club Hub Support

Self-esteem is a great thing to help set a kid up for success, and what better way to do this than to find some activities? Activities are a great way to not only physically benefit your children but also help build confidence and self-esteem. Giving your child self-esteem is a great way to help them not only in their activities but also in school and life in general. In this blog, we dive into some activities that help cultivate self-esteem in kids and prepare them for a great future.

Why is Building Self-Esteem In kids Crucial?

It’s hard to say that self-esteem doesn’t play a huge role in a child’s life, and that’s because self-esteem is widely recognised as a crucial component of anybody’s life, let alone children. Self-esteem can help build confidence, which we all know is a great and crucial skill to have. Giving a child the ability to believe in themself is a powerful tool that can help them build relationships, resilience, their ability to try again, and their mental health. As the world gets more and more advanced, it’s crucial to always remember the foundations that build healthy and happy lives.

Sports Activities For Self-Esteem

Sports are one of the many activities that are well known for bolstering anyone’s self-esteem, whether you play basketball, golf, or even crazy golf! Each sport offers a wide range of benefits, but probably the most important is helping your children build self-esteem through physically seeing their efforts and giving them the ability to stand back up again even after hitting a wall. Teaching children to believe in themself and have confidence in their own ability is a crucial role of our society and should be a main focus of anything.

Performing Arts Classes

Performing arts are another great example of the perfect environment to build self-esteem in children. Performing arts teach kids not only how to perform, but also how to have the self-esteem and confidence to do so. Performing in front of a large audience is hard, but by training and practising, the children gain confidence and self-esteem in their own abilities and can therefore repeat anything. It creates this sense that “I’ve done this before, so I can do it again” The children see a physical result of their efforts and therefore experience the positive results of having succeeded and the bitter taste of failure that ultimately fuels their improvement.

Martial Arts

While martial arts is also part of sports, I believe that it deserves its own spotlight on how it helps build self-esteem and supports a child’s development. Martial arts isn’t just a physical discipline, it equips children with the skills and mental discipline to be confident in their own abilities. It’s this self-esteem that they can carry throughout their life, knowing that, should anything happen, they can do what is needed. It’s not only the skills but the philosophy behind training in martial arts that prepares children for anything, both the bad and the good.

Goal Setting Workshops

Many children struggle to turn their dreams into goals, but the difference is? Dreams are something they want, whereas goals are the steps it takes to get there. Holding a goal-setting workshop for your children is a great way not only to help them build self-esteem by showing them the steps they can take to achieve their goals. This can help spark your children’s curiosity and belief that they themself have what it takes to achieve their goals.

Arts and Crafts Workshops

Arts and Crafts activities and the use of creativity are a proven way to boost self-esteem, if treated correctly. When children present creative projects to people and receive positive responses, it reinforces their self-esteem and confidence. Combine this with great and actionable feedback, and the child begins to want to improve and present not only good works but also gradual visual improvement.

The best part about self-esteem is that it carries on into anything your child does. We have enough research to know that everything you do and experience as a child has an effect on how you act and view the world and yourself. So why not equip your child with the skills to succeed in the future to come?
