Activity Description

Jazz dance encompasses a wide range of styles on offer at the Academy including Contemporary Modern Jazz, Street Jazz and Lyrical Jazz.

Our Contemporary Modern Jazz classes follow the IDTA syllabus and encourage pupils to improve core strength, stamina and flexibility with opportunities to take examinations from Preparatory to Advanced 2 level. Our Preparatory and Primary classes cater to younger pupils aged 4-8 years with the higher grades suiting our older pupils.

Our Street Jazz and Lyrical classes give pupils the chance to take on popular styles of dance often seen on television and throughout the music industry. Street Jazz classes are an upbeat environment full of enthusiasm and energy giving pupils the chance to learn routines to popular songs and express themselves with lively choreography, these classes are available to pupils aged 7+. Our Lyrical Jazz classes are available to pupils aged 11+ and focus on the use of emotion and storytelling throughout choreography, whilst working on developing strong technique and flexibility.
