Yogiki Yoga

Published on 21st August 2016 by Tessa Robinson

Yogiki YogaChildren are natural yogis and Yogiki Yoga – Yoga Classes for children in Kingston are for kids aged 2 to 12.

Kids’ yoga is fun, creative and non-competitive and the use of animated poses and basic stretching exercises promotes strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Breathing and visualisation techniques teach children how to focus, relax and develop self-control.

I am passionate, enthusiastic, conscientious and well-qualified children’s yoga teacher and I believe there are many ways in which yoga classes can benefit your kids in their learning experience at school and life in general.

My mission is to promote kids’ yoga to parents and their children in a way of fun, interactive, educational and entertaining lessons. The classes are designed with 2 to Yogiki Yoga5, 5 to 8 and 8 to 12 year olds in mind and being held in a warm, caring, friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

They last 45 minutes to an hour depending on the age group and include playing fun yoga games, storytelling, dancing, listening to music, singing yogi rhymes and songs, doing yoga-related art and practicing gentle meditation and relaxation.

In other words we practice yoga – a union of the mind, body, and spirit – in a really fun and engaging way, the way children understand and accept with pleasure.

I encourage my little yogikis to discover space through play and use the power of imagination. We move, we pause, we sing and most importantly we enjoy ourselves having lots of fun!

It inspires me to see these kids’ eyes sparkle and witness their sincere wiliness to discover new things, experiment with new ideas and create healthy habits.Yogiki Yoga

My yoga classes help children to:

  • develop flexibility, strength, balance and posture by exercising their bodies but also by learning to relax through breathing properly and balancing their energy level.
  • become more observant by using their senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and especially touch.
  • balance their emotions, relax their minds, strengthen their concentration and be flexible in any circumstances
  • express themselves creatively and maintain their spontaneity and originality.

In this day of over-scheduling and over-stimulation, I hope that other parents will get this “infectious” bug and take the fun and effectiveness of yoga practice from our classes into their everyday home/work/school lives to help their children to break an unhealthy cycle of “Generation Stress” and create a healthy resilience. I want to give them a gift of yoga and help to raise a new generation of well-balanced people who know who they truly are.

Yogiki (“Yo-gi- ki” or “Yo-zhee- kee” which in Russian also means “little hedgehogs”) kids yoga club runs weekly classes in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. I invite you to join our Yogiki Kids and Family Yoga Classes to share the world of yoga and beyond together.

I would also be delighted to teach private family classes from the comfort of your own home or bring a practice as a part of your kids’ birthday party to give them and their little guests a taste of how yoga could enhance their health, happiness and learning potential.
