Mini Frenzy: Igniting little ones imaginations

Published on 27th November 2016 by Tessa Robinson

Mini FrenzyWe don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw. Play is so important for our little ones development which is why Kyle Eastwood (a qualified drama teacher) set up a drama and role play programme for ages 3-5, called Mini Frenzy.

Mini Frenzy empowers youngsters aged 3-5 to use their imaginations on exciting adventures. We pretend, play drama games, role play and have lots of fun! Themes change every 6 weeks and each week there is a different world to explore using creative problem solving. One week they might be trekking through the jungle to help Maria the Monkey find her mummy and the next going on a teddy bears picnic.

Whilst classes are child-led, they still follow a structure so that the youngsters feel comfortable and relaxed. The emphasis of Mini Frenzy is on imagination rather than performance. Because the classes are child-led, no two classes are ever the same!

Drama benefits a child’s development in many ways. Here are just 8 benefits of a Mini Frenzy class:

  • Creativity
  • Co-operation
  • Communication
  • Confidence
  • Concentration
  • Understand the world around them
  • Positive sense of self and others
  • Friendships

Your first Mini Frenzy session is free and then £4.00 per 45 minute session (10% sibling discount available). Free tea and coffee are provided at every class, so you can relax whilst your little one is transported off on a fun adventure.

How It All Began – Frenzy Drama

Hi everyone, I’m Kyle and I set up Frenzy Drama (then known as Frenzy Youth Theatre) in 2015.  I had worked in a few secondary schools teaching Drama and in various examining roles for exam boards.  I found myself becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of attention being given to individual and personal progress so I decided to embark on a new adventure.

I began Frenzy for 6 year olds and upwards with the ethos of learning and exploring through drama and play but it quickly became apparent there was a need for this in the younger years too which resulted in the introduction of our pre-school classes.

As class sizes began to grow, I began to take on staff and this then saw the first Frenzy Franchise in York in 2018.

Play is at the heart of everything we do at Frenzy.  It is at the front of our minds as write lesson plans, workshops and shows.
