The creative, practical way to learn theory – develop your skills by using music theory creatively, composing and writing music which is performed within the class and by visiting musicians.
Lessons include listening to music, describing it, and learning new words to talk about it. Students listen to each other’s work and describe what they enjoyed about it.
Students develop music literacy and theoretical knowledge:
Understand harmony, melody and counterpoint and how to apply them in composition
Develop composition skills and hear work performed
Ideal support for GCSE music
Preparation for ABRSM theory exams up to grade 5 (entry optional)
Students will need to bring their own manuscript paper, pencil and eraser, and buy a workbook (we’ll recommend which one is suitable). We recommend:
for students working on grade 1 or 2: Novello Manuscript Book 1, A5 landscape, 4 staves per page, 32 pages (Amazon / Musicroom)

The term fee is discounted by 50% for one to one students at GMS.
