Times: 2.00 PM - 5.00 PM
Learn to code using the amazing micro:bit. We will use different programming languages to work with this versatile piece of hardware. We will start off with Microsoft MakeCode, then use the micro:bit in combination with Scratch to create and play games. Finally, we will use a text based “grown-up” programming language such as Python to control our micro:bit.
Understand and use the sensors on board the micro:bit
Learn to code the micro:bit using MakCode
Use the new Scratch micro:bit extension
Bring your virtual game into the real world with the micro:bit
Learn about programming concepts such as loops, conditionals, IF/THEN/ELSE statements
Learn to code in Python using the micro:bit
Tuesday, 26 May: 2 PM – 5 PM
Wednesday, 27 May: 2 PM – 5 PM
Thursday, 28 May: 2 PM – 5 PM
Friday, 29 May: 2 PM – 5 PM
Challenges may vary depending on the child’s age/ability as we have multiple streams running within each session.
What you would need
A computer with the Zoom web conferencing software installed.
A BBC micro:bit (you can purchase this with us or from another supplier)
Age Requirement : 7+
No prior coding experience necessary. If your child has been to one of these workshops before, then their learning will be extended further and they will not have to repeat the same content as before.
