At Make Some Music your child doesn’t just learn an instrument. Our fun and interactive classes focus on music as a whole, from singing, vocab and listening skills to composition, class performances and opportunities to have a go at playing a range of instruments to see what might suit. Whether your child already plays an instrument or not, they can enjoy making music and being creative with us!
Minims (~4-6yrs) – ages are flexible depending on experience!
Our youngest class focuses on exposing members to a range of instruments and sounds through songs, games and try out sessions with our instruments. We learn how to read basic notation and musical vocab, and use percussion instruments to play in small groups. There’s plenty of movement and fun, dress up and noise!
Crotchets (~7-9 yrs)
In our middle class, students will be given the opportunity to learn an instrument alongside their main music classes. We start to cover the idea of pitch with our ukuleles and anyone learning a supplementary instrument is welcome to bring it along to join in with. We love to run other creative projects in these classes, such as re-enacting operas and making films to write film scores for. By the end of these classes your child will have a good understanding of what they are hearing and what they like to listen to/play.
