Little Heroes is a drop in group for parents and family of children with a diagnosis of or potential diagnosis of ASD. The group now has our own venue – Little Heroes ASD Support Hub, which is based on London Road, Westcliff-on-Sea. With the permanant venue we are developing a range of sessions to cater for the ever growing needs of local families. Our Friday drop in sessions will continue, offering a safe place for parents and carers to chat with other likewise people in a non-judgemental environment. Parents/ carers are able to attend with or without their children, however likewise for all sessions going forward we do require people to book into session so we can limit numbers and adhere to local and government guidelines. Other developing sessions will include Dad’s Club, Pre-school Sessions, Girl’s Club, Youth Club, Home Ed Sessions and Evening Parent/ Carer Creative sessions. These will be slowly introduced after the lockdown due to covid 19, these may take time to reach full potetial as these need to be developed and maintained to a certain level before we can proceed to the next step. We are currently working as a small charity raising funds to provide activity sessions for the families we support during the school holidays and at festive periods. The group was originally set up by Helen Smith-Vicary, ASD Specialist Portage Home Visitor and Kim Drake who’s son Alfie was diagnosed with autism back in 2011 when he was just 3 years old. Little Heroes ASD Support Group began as a coffee morning at a local children’s centre early October 2012. Please check back to the page frequently for upcoming events.
