Children and Tui Na Chinese Therapeutic Massage
Paediatric tui na is widely used in today in Chinese hospitals. It is different from adult tui na because a child’s energetic system differs.
“My son had a
terrible ear infection,
with some gentle
massage on points
on his hands and
feet he visibly
before my eyes”
A tui na treatment for a child is generally a sequence of 8-12 gentle massage methods, mainly pushing and kneading, on lines or points.
Each method is done for 1-2 minutes, whilst the child lies down or sits in the lap of the parent.
The parent can be taught the sequence so that treatment can be continued at home, once a day, or more often in acute situations (for example, if the child has a fever).
