art-K runs art classes for children aged 6-16 and adults in a fun, welcoming and encouraging environment. Our programme is personalised to each individual to enable you to learn and develop at your own rate.
art-K has a wide range of different projects allowing children and adults to go on an extraordinary exploration of art. The original art-K has been running since 2000 and in 2019 the Winchester branch opened. We now have over 25 branches in England.
Our aim is for the children to explore and experiment with a range of mediums; acrylics, watercolours, pastels, clay, papier-mâché; to develop their drawing skills in different ways; try out many 3D activities; and above all keep them enthusiastic for art, motivated and continually developing their artistic skills. The projects are all age-related as we understand that at different ages children have different capabilities and interests.
We believe it’s very important for younger children to develop their visual vocabulary so that they can draw from memory with freedom and confidence as they express themselves. To achieve this we incorporate exercises in the programme such as visual memory & visual perceptual skills. We also help children with their projects for art GCSE, providing them with a strong foundation to help their work to stand out.
Our Winchester art club is run by Matt, an enthusiastic creative, passionate about art and community and providing welcoming and engaging environments for children to feel confident and comfortable to explore, express, discover and enhance their artistic skills through quality art experiences. The teachers are always on hand and happy to provide step by step guidance and ideas along the way.
We also provide separate adult classes. Our adult programme is more flexible and tailored to each individual’s ability and interests. It’s a great way to spend some ‘me’ time in a relaxing and fun atmosphere. Whilst exploring inspirational artists work from the Impressionists to David Hockney to Ann Blockley, who is a vibrant watercolour artist. We experiment using their techniques and in the process perhaps create your own artistic style!
All art materials are provided.
